This position is for a Lead Systems Administrator with knowledge of Windows Workstation and Server OS, Linux OS. Knowledge of VMWARE, VDI, Active Directory, MS Exchange, SPLUNK is a plus.
Provides system administration and network administration support for classified and unclassified labs.
Provides 2nd level technical support, submit tickets for end users, and track tickets in a web based ticketing system
Maintain an Active Directory infrastructure providing OU administration, group / user account management, and other various AD tasks
Hands-on design and implementation of IP-based classified and unclassified systems and networks. Ability to setup VLAN’s, troubleshoot network devices, and secure various CISCO devices
Evaluate new technologies; and recommend their application to current projects
Collaborate with TIER I / TIER III level System Administrators, MITRE staff, project sponsors, and government personnel to develop and deliver administration and network support to various projects
Communicate technical information via proposals, white papers, technical reports, and presentations
Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure systems and network devices to comply with DISA Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs)
Assist with compliance audits of classified networked systems and participate in self-inspections
Assist ISSM/ISSO with coordination between sponsors, MITRE project leaders, and MITRE’s accreditation officials to obtain formal accreditation and approvals to operate for classified information systems
Research new hardware / software products and work closely with budgeting to acquire life cycle replacements and maintain software licenses
Maintain proper classification for multiple segmented environments to prevent cross contamination and spills
Understand, develop, and apply Disaster Recovery procedures
Identify, troubleshoot, and correct software / hardware issues
Apply security patches / updates in closed environments
Manage a Symantec Anti-Virus Server
Work closely with TIER I to customize system images, provide troubleshooting guidance, and to mentor
Create and maintain system documentation
Perform backup duties at the TIER I / TIER III level when required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field and 8 years of experience. Candidate demonstrates an ability to apply advanced principles, theories and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Master's degree in a relevant field of study. Candidate understands the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers and is fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span. In addition, candidate is able to define projects or programs greater than themselves.
Experience in DoD security controls is required with knowledge and direct hands on experience with DoD DSS NISPOM or DoD DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Knowledge and experience with TACLANES, HBSS, ACAS or a DoD CCRI is a plus.
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, able to install AD from scratch, and build basic OU structures. Ability to troubleshoot and provide TIER I level assistance when required
Basic overall knowledge of Linux: install OS, install software packages, setup users, group management, setup network, maintain system, and update OS
This position has a DoD SSBI background investigation requirement and a DoD IAT II certification requirement, which includes at least one of the following certificates:CCNA Security, CSA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, SSCP or CISSP.
This work requires on onsite on the McLean campus. Flexible hours are possible. Occasional early or late hours may be required. Short term travel to other MITRE locations is possible.
