Lead Cyber Security Engineer and SME for Cyber Assessments and Evaluation
MITRE’s Intelligence Technologies Department is looking for an experienced cybersecurity engineer and SME with advanced knowledge of systems, networks, and applied security technologies for strategic and operational tasks.
Adept at fostering strong and trusting relationships with a diverse group of Intelligence Community (IC) executives and stakeholders who are working together to implement an enterprise-wide Cyber Assessment program
Collaborate with the project team to develop and support the implementation of standards-based IT security policies and procedures to identify security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities
Provide actionable recommendations that drive security program improvements.
Assist with assessment and authorization efforts across the enterprise.
Lead development of project activities such as assessments, analysis of alternatives, position papers, special studies, and briefings.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) that integrates information security and risk management activities into the system development life cycle (SDLC). The candidate will understand the policy and processes for assessment and authorization of IT systems including Cloud Computing and Web Services in a Services Oriented Architecture environment. The candidate will utilize proven facilitation skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills for individual engagement and stakeholder management to include diverse perspectives and foster consensus among senior executives on topics such as information sharing, data protection, and technology adoption.
Requires regular customer site visits to Bethesda, MD and Reston, VA.
B.S. in Information Technology, Information Security, Assessment and Authorization (A&A) or related fields. TS/SCI Polygraph and 4 years’ experience in the IC in areas such as lifecycle support for hardware/software, vulnerability management, threat management, incident response, and security controls and accreditation efforts using ICD 503/4, CNSS 1253, and NIST 800 Series guidance. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write to diverse audiences. Ability to translate plans and proposals between technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in the IC to demonstrate self-assurance as a peer in working with other SMEs to offer objective policy and technical advice and counsel as appropriate. Demonstrated ability to respond in written and oral venues to customer-driven deadlines and style.
