Lead Cyber-Artificial Intelligence Engineer
The Cognitive Science & Artificial Intelligence Department has a business need for a Lead Cyber-Artificial Intelligence Engineer who is an interdisciplinary subject matter expert in the following areas: active cyber defense, adversary behavior emulation, red/blue teaming, machine learning, knowledge-based reasoning, automated planning.
This position involves working across the corporation to collaboratively develop and build a thriving cyber-AI work program. This will entail leading small teams in technical work, developing leadership capacity, and building cyber-artificial intelligence capabilities to meet current and anticipated sponsor needs. As a technical leader, the successful candidate will engage in business development to identify, create, and leverage opportunities for technical innovation and engagement across MITRE’s broad national security and public sector sponsor base, mentor junior staff, and share knowledge across MITRE. This position involves working in interdisciplinary teams to develop cyber-AI products and solutions, maintain awareness of external innovation and investments, and the transition/transfer of cyber-AI products and solutions across programs.
Understanding of MITRE and its role in operating FFRDCs. Overarching understanding of DoD and Civilian environment and associated work programs. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with mid-level to senior leaders across MITRE. Demonstrated capability in innovating novel concepts or adapting/integrating existing concepts to solve challenging government or military problems. Exceptional communication skills to provide internal and external guidance up and down the chain on extremely complex problems. Demonstrated ability to build sponsor relationships as a trusted advisor as well as to build and lead high performing teams.
Required: M.S. degree in computer science with interdisciplinary coursework in artificial intelligence and cyber security. 5 years of experience in defining, developing, and deploying solutions for critical national efforts using AI and cyber security.
Preferred: Ph.D./D.Sc. in computer science with interdisciplinary coursework in artificial intelligence and cyber security. 2 years of experience in defining, developing, and deploying solutions for critical national efforts using AI and cyber security.
Minimum: B.S. and 8 years related experience.
