The Finance Business Partner is the trusted advisor and finance manager for MITRE’s Center for Programs & Technology (CPT) Public Sector Program (PSP) leadership.

This position is responsible for:

  • Understanding all aspects of the customer’s $655M business, including, but not limited to, the business unit’s strategic goals, use and deployment of direct and indirect resources, sources of revenue, budget constraints, data and information requirements, and dynamics of financial performance.

  • This is an individual contributor role that supports a matrixed organization and requires financial Planning & analysis, operational detail focus, and excellent collaboration & communication skills. Frequent interaction required with all levels of finance and executive & senior level business management.

Accountabilities

This position is accountable to:

  • The CPT Finance Business Partner to effectively implement and manage established goals

  • PSP leadership to provide accurate, timely, and strategic business decision-quality analyses, options, and recommendations

  • CPT FP&A, Program Control, and Tech Center Support Services leadership to ensure a smooth working relationship among the organizations, including, but not limited to, working collaboratively to set guardrails, such as individual preferences for cross-organization tasking

  • Peer Finance Business Partners for consistency in operations across Finance

Key Functions:

  • This position is accountable for ensuring the PSP leadership is fully informed on all aspects of its business as reflected in the financial/business data, to include identifying, analyzing, extrapolating, and explaining trends; pinpointing underlying business unit customer behaviors that have an impact on financial outcomes; clearly articulating and visualizing the story behind the data; devising appropriate options for action; and making a recommendation on the best course of action based on the data.

  • Serve as a key Center for Finance & Analytics (CF&A) brand ambassador by engaging with internal finance stakeholder community and develop strategic relationships with PSP program leadership. Liaise with Operations to ensure sufficient communication on projections that may have a significant impact on achieving overall financial performance and wrap rate goals.

  • Provide tools and frameworks to guide Program management with tradeoff decisions to achieve business strategy, which specific focus on Capacity Management, and Overhead Management. Invigorate Officers and other technical leaders on finance issues to increase overall organizational business acumen.

  • Serve as a respected thought leader for innovative approaches to finance analytics, tools, products, and technology. Provide anticipatory business intelligence based on performance trends, resource allocations, indirect management, etc. to advise on areas of potential risks or opportunity.

  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact for PSP VP. Review and monitor overall actual financial and delivery performance metrics by program segments to ensure execution of budget/forecast. Collaborate with Portfolio Sector Finance Business Partners & Program Control to ensure consistent messaging.

  • Lead monthly financial performance reviews to PSP leadership team.

  • Assist annual budget and forecast process and contribute to price and rate management strategy

  • Manage the preparation and distribution of financial and operational reports for internal users. Identify relevant and critical information which will enable management to focus on key drivers across the organization and issues requiring their focus.

  • Ensure compliance with established company-wide finance and accounting policies and procedures.

  • Lead Capacity Management planning process for PSP & provide monthly updates to understand risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

BS and 10 years of related experience, including 2 years of leadership experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong track record exhibiting excellent analytical, critical thinking, and data driven, creative problem solving skills

  • Able to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex financial issues

  • Able to persuade using Influencing skills. Present with powerful visual narratives

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer-centric relationships

  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguous or uncertain situations

  • Government contracting experience

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
