The MITRE Corporation Cyber Intern in McLean, Virginia
Work with MITRE Cyber Security Engineers supporting a fast-paced program looking at the latest tools and techniques to detect and respond to cyber events. Interns will identify, test, and recommend commercial technologies and innovative best practices to be adopted into an operational network defense environment. Interns will be expected to collaborate with colleagues across MITRE to accomplish their tasks. Candidate will help MITRE with new ideas, working with new data sources, and prototyping new methods of performing analysis on the data.
Assist MITRE engineers in the evaluation and development of solutions for the analysis of network and/or host-based log data.
Discover and recommend innovative solutions and best practices that address sponsor’s challenges
Integrate solutions to the sponsor’s operational environment.
Collaborate with MITRE colleagues across the corporation to identify cutting-edge solutions that can transition to the sponsor.
Knowledge of networking, cyber security, and familiarity with Linux is required.
Technologies involved include Python, Windows Event Logs, BRO Intrusion Detection System, Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana, Kafka, and Linux.
Knowledge of analytical methodologies, cybersecurity frameworks, and structured approaches to network defense is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates that have familiarity with space systems, 1553 bus, and spacecraft telemetry.
