MITRE is seeking an experienced Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Management (ATM) subject matter expert with EnRoute and Traffic Flow Management (TFM) expertise. This individual will assist in the development of ATM operational concepts, processes and automation for the FAA and our international customers. This is an ideal position for someone who is enthusiastic about working within a collaborative environment that is focused on solving the most difficult problems facing ATM globally.

In this position, you will help develop technical products and recommendations to guarantee MITRE’s commitment to helping our stakeholders make the right decisions at the right time.

Including but not limited to:

  • Leveraging your expertise with systems engineers, analysts and other ATM SMEs focused on delivering greater mission impact.

  • Providing insight to assess the real world feasibility of innovative and advanced capabilities, processes and data analytics.

  • Supporting concept development enabling the effective use of Air Traffic Systems (e.g., TBFM, ERAM, and TFMS) and concepts (TBO).

  • Identifying ways to better leverage current processes, capabilities and decision support tools to increase mission impact and empower FAA decision makers to improve NAS safety and efficiency. For example, greater use of Trajectory Based Operations (TBO) and advanced Performance Based Navigation (PBN) procedures.

  • Assisting in the testing of those processes, concepts and tools in internal (e.g., MITRE IDEA lab) and external (e. g., Florida NextGen Testbed) laboratory environments.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • B. S. or B.A. and 8 plus years of FAA ATM experience

  • Expertise in air traffic management operations, orders, processes and procedures

  • Familiarity in the practice of Systems Engineering

  • Knowledge of existing and future FAA ATM and Traffic Flow Management (TFM) decision support systems

  • Experience in interfacing with FAA facilities and personnel, and other aviation stakeholders

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
