Join MITRE’s Prototype Fabrication (T825) team in fabricating prototypes for sensor, communication and navigation systems. Entry-level Co-op Machinist/ Sheet Metal worker to work with direct supervision in Fabrication of mechanical parts used to support various testing and systems.
This position requires a highly technical individual with a high degree of initiative and ingenuity. The candidate will work directly with shop personnel, designers and technical staff using sound knowledge of shop procedures. In addition, the candidate may work with engineers and technicians in the testing of devices they have made.
Candidate must be able to work from prints, sketches and oral instructions to construct simple parts and devices, to perform machine work on state of the art and standard machine shop equipment including CNC machines, and to use a variety of precision measuring devices to check dimensions to close tolerances. Finally, the candidate must be able to plan and lay out work determining the sequences of operations and equipment to be used and set up machinery to be used in machining operations. Candidate must have basic math skills that include algebra and trigonometry.
Currently attending a technical high school.
Students need to be currently enrolled and will be enrolled the following semester in a full-time in an accredited degree-seeking university program.\
