The MITRE Satellite Communication department has an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic technical team having substantial impact on the design and development of next generation DoD communication systems. While our work focuses on radios/terminals that communicate with satellites, we are also responsible for developing communication capabilities that span space, aerial, terrestrial, nuclear and cyber military domains.
The lead engineer has the opportunity to lead or contribute to a dynamic multi-disciplined technical team having impact on the design and development of a next generation line of sight communications capability involving aircraft and multiple ground sites.
The ideal candidate will:
Utilize system engineering best practices to develop requirements, conduct link performance trade studies, analyze system performance, assess contractor designs, and advise DoD customers on technology and program decisions.
Provide thought leadership to address cross-program integration challenges, evaluate or define system architecture, and develop technical roadmaps.
Use sound engineering principles to perform modeling and simulation, identify technology insertion opportunities, define and execute prototyping activities, and test in live or lab environments.
- Position could located at Hill AFB, UT (10% travel) or Bedford, MA (20% travel)
Possess a BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mathematics or similar fields with communication line of sight experience.
Understanding of air – ground link budgets and waveform analysis
Understanding of impact of nuclear effects to communication systems
Understanding of antenna performance
Possess a collateral SECRET clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SC
- BS and 8 years related experience.
