MITRE’s Electronic System Development & EmbeddedSecurity department is looking for technical leaders with experience withcellular network protocols as related to system design, development, anddebugging to support a diverse commercial wireless technology workprogram. Our U.S. government sponsorsseek to adapt, adopt, and augment commercial wireless technologies to develop cutting-edge technicalcapabilities addressing challenges of their unique operational environments.

A selectedcandidate will lead teams to research, analyze, architect, and implement prototypecommunication solutions for our government sponsors.

Key Functions:

This position provides an exciting opportunity to evaluate andexperiment with commercial wireless technologies and to design, architect, and prototypestate of the art wireless solutions.

Technical opportunities include:

  • Assessing mobile wireless technology trends,commercial and government solutions for a variety of projects and governmentsponsors

  • Assessing security and resiliency of wirelessprotocol and radio implementations

  • Defining and creating wireless (e.g. cellular,WiFi, etc.) test networks, test scenarios, and tools for collecting andanalyzing results

  • Supporting field test and evaluation exercises:preparation, execution, and post-event analysis

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

We are interested in highly motivated candidates with a widevariety of skills, curiosity, enthusiasm, and the ability and interest to digdeep on challenging technical problems. Required qualifications include:

  • BS(or higher) in Computer Science, Electrical, or Computer

  • Knowledge of cellular systems from the edgeto the core for 3G and LTE

  • Knowledge of internal cellular protocols(Diameter, SIP, SS7)

  • Knowledge of VoIP, VoLTE, and WiFi offloading

  • A deep understanding of related networkspecifications

  • Experience with setting up IP networks

  • Ability to effectively communicate and briefwireless network architecture, protocol, and security concepts as a technicaladvisor or technical mentor

  • Ability to communicate technical and businessrequirements with wireless network solutions vendors

  • Experience with programmingin languages such as Python, Java, C , or C

Preferred Qualifications

One or more of the following skills are desirable:

  • Ability to organize a team of engineers, distribute work, develop schedules, and reshape research as needed

  • Experience with core network configuration and debug / evaluation

  • Understanding of RF communications, cellular waveforms, and signal processing concepts

  • Experience in cryptography and security, including key-agreement protocols, authentication, encryption, and related concepts

  • Proficient in software development using programming languages such as Python, Java, C , or C:

  • Experiencewith embedded systems and the implementation of wireless protocol stacks

Minimum Qualifications:

BS and 8 years related experience.
