MITRE's Enterprise Technical Computing (ETC) division provides multiple compute services to MITRE research organizations. Our Big Data Analysis and High-Performance Computing group is looking for an experienced Linux systems administrator with High Performance Computing (HPC) experience and programming skills, to join our team.

Key functions:

  • Maintain, monitor, and mitigate operations for ETC HPC clusters

  • Provide technical support to the MITRE HPC user community via the corporate trouble ticketing system.

  • Set up, conduct, and document performance and evaluation tests or experiments.

  • Develop, modify, and maintain documentation on the clusters and related processes.

  • Install software, including programming languages; GPU, and other device drivers.

  • Develop and apply “best practices” for maintaining scheduler fairness

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, engineering, or an associated field.

  • Journeyman level Linux, or other UNIX flavors: CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu, Mac OS X

  • Experience with docker, singularity, or another container technology.

  • Hands on experience with basic computer networking and routing.

  • Programming in at least 1 of the following languages: C, C , Perl, Python, Java, shell scripts

  • Familiarity with HPC-specific resources, such as GPUs, FPGAs, Singularity, MPI, Infiniband, OmniPath, process scheduling software: PBS, Torque, Moab, Condor, slurm…

  • Troubleshooting basic internet protocols (DNS, DDNS, DHCP, BOOTP, SMTP, S/FTP, HTTP/S, NFS, CIFS/SMB, PKI, TCP, UDP, MPI)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field.

  • Linux systems administration experience

  • Programming skills
