Key Functions Develop and analyze requirements, conduct system level and component level trade studies, specify radio frequency (RF) communications performance and interfaces, and advise on technology investments. Conduct trade studies on alternative radio/system design approaches.
Required Education/Experience: BS and 5 years of related experience or MS and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 1 year of related experience
Desired Education/Experience BS or equivalent and 5 years experience or MS and 3 years experience in analysis, design, and development of digital communications systems
Required Skills: Position requires experience in digital communications theory, detection and estimation theory, RF modulation techniques, error correction coding, and signal processing.
Requires demonstrated technical skills to understand and analyze complex communications problems and trades.
Requires ability to assess operational mission requirements and place results of technical studies into a systems engineering context.
Ability to support a concepts through various phases from design, development, test through to operation, maintenance, and delivery.
Desired Skills Excellent interpersonal skills required for interaction with customers, project leaders, team members, and other government agencies. Proficiency in written communications skills also required.
Must work collaboratively within a team, or independently, as the situation requires.
Proficiency in computer analysis and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, STK, etc.) preferred.
Proficiency in computer languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, Python, etc) and/or hardware languages (VHDL/Verilog, System C) a must.
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 10 % of the time.
