Key Functions This integral member of Network Engineering Team will engineer and integrate IP network designs, config routers/switches, implement routing protocols and manage MITRE WAN and internet access as well as data centers and network security. Additional key responsibilities include:
Provide leadership for operational, administration, and monitoring support for multiple network environments within MITRE
Troubleshoot complex network problems including performance analysis, protocol problems, and WAN/LAN failures
Provide network requirement analysis, designs, implementation and support
Create and analyze statistical reports for the Corporate LAN/WAN networks plus operating and maintaining the software packages that produce these reports
Support both the telecommunications and networking teams in additional activities as assigned
Required Education/Experience: BS or equivalent and 5 years of related experience or MS or equivalent and 3 years of related experience or PhD and 1 year of related experience
Desired Education/Experience BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
8+ years hands-on experience with network engineering, operations, management and network analysis
Required Skills: 5+ years hands-on experience with Cisco Network equipment
Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, Enterprise MPLS and VRF; 802.1x; Sniffers/Protocol analyzers and network management tools.
Demonstrated experience with firewalls, content networking, proxy servers, NAC, ASAs, IP routing protocols
Experience VoIP and QoS
Ability to work in team and individual environments
Detail-oriented
Flexibility to be on-call for off-hours support for emergency issues
Experience deploying new technologies to a wide customer base
Remote access technology experience (i.e. IPsec, SSL VPNs, Teleworking)
Desired Skills Knowledge of SNMP, Shell Scripting, UNIX/Linux
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective interpersonal, customer service and technical presentation skills
Ability to independently manage projects and multi-task
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 10% of the time.
