Purpose MITRE, listed on Fortune's 100 Best Companies To Work For, is seeking a decision analytics expert to provide technical support for our government sponsors. This position is for a hands-on data analyst with experience in data extraction and analysis.

Key Functions Extract and integrate data from multiple sources in multiple formats (e.g., database, spreadsheets, text files) for performing modeling, analysis, and reporting
Perform analysis of moderate and large size data sets (i.e., file sizes 100MBs and above) using statistical applications (e.g., SAS, R, S-Plus) and/or database programming (e.g., Oracle PL/SQL)
Apply advanced data mining approaches and techniques and implement/experiment for prototype exercises
Required Education/Experience: BS and 1 year experience or MS
Desired Education/Experience MS in Computer Science, Math or Information Systems Management. Experience in data integration and developing decision support/data analytics applications.
Required Skills: Experience working with disparate data sources in various formats (e.g., Excel, delimited text files, database exports)
Ability to extract, integrate, and transform data from databases for modeling, analysis, and reporting
Ability to parse text data into structured data formats for modeling, analysis, and reporting
Familiarity with at least one statistical application at the programming level (e.g., SAS, R, S-Plus)
Desired Skills Proficiency programming in commonly available languages, such as Java, Perl, Python, C++
Proficiency implementing regular expressions
Proficiency with moderate-to-advanced SQL programming
Experience with basic DBA duties (importing, exporting, indexing) and working with moderate-to-large size databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
Experience working in a prototyping environment
Ability to communicate (written and verbal) technical concepts and findings to non-technical, business audience
Travel Statement * This position will require local travel in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and overnight travel up to 10% of the time.
