Purpose MITRE, a Fortune-100 Best Company to Work For, is seeking a Missile Defense Engineer to provide technical and analytical support to the Missile Defense Agencys BMDS Capability Assessment team.
Security Clearance Level Secret
Key Functions Be instrumental in providing the MDA Director with an internal, non-advocate assessment of BMDS capabilities and limitations. Work with other Federally Funded Research and Development Centers/University Affiliated Research Centers (FFRDCs/UARCs) in assessing the BMDS technical performance and deployment readiness prior to fielding. Collaboratively work with the BMDS Elements, Components, and Joint Analysis Teams to provide an understanding of system performance and testing limitations to MDA Leadership. Perform Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications system technical data analysis necessary to assess BMDS performance and identify the capabilities and limitations based on first-hand, primary analysis of component-, Element-, and System-level data from a variety of test venues. Provide technical assessment of BMDS readiness to field to the MDA Director and the Warfighter (as approved by the MDA senior leadership). Recommend ways to improve BMDS performance, testing, and operations in the future.
Required Education/Experience: BS and 1 year experience or MS.
Desired Education/Experience BS/MS degree in Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematical Sciences, or Aerospace Engineering preferred; 5 years experience with engineering missile defense systems.
Required Skills: Strong analytic skills, with Missile Defense analysis experience, with proficiency in MATLAB (or equivalent) and MS Access/SQL Server. Test planning and execution experience. Must have outstanding communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, and possess a strong work ethic.
Desired Skills Background in analyzing and assessing integration and interoperability across large scale systems. Missile Defense test and integration background. Knowledge of Theater/Regional Missile Defense command and control systems and architectures. Knowledge and experience in Large Scale Distributed Systems (to include Hardware, Software, & Operating Systems), Architectures (Distributed, Centralized, Net-Centric), Networks & Protocols, Data Integration & Fusion Strategies, Modeling & Simulation, Information Assurance, Operational Concepts & CONOPS, and Human Factors.
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 20 % of the time.
