Purpose MITRE, A "Fortune 100 Best Company To Work For," is seeking a System Engineer with knowledge in Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) to work in the Warfighter applications Department providing direct support to the surveillance domain.
Security Clearance Level Secret
Key Functions MITRE has an immediate opening in the CNS/ATM program for a systems engineer who can contribute to the technical team evaluating United States Air Force (USAF) weapons platforms compliance to worldwide civil airspace standards. The system engineer shall have knowledge of current civil avionics standards, such as FAA, RTCA, ICAO, EUROCONTROL, specifically in the fields of Mode S, Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) and be able to successfully evaluate an aircrafts level of compliance. Attendance and participation at national and international surveillance standard meetings is expected. Successful written and verbal interaction and communication with aircraft operators and other Department of Defense agencies is imperative. Additionally, the systems engineer will contribute to the technical evaluation of avionics equipment available on the CNS/ATM Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity catalog for purchase by weapon platform offices.
Required Education/Experience: BS
Desired Education/Experience BS in Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.
Required Skills: Ability to work well with varying levels of technical expertise as well as civilian/military groups. Must be knowledgeable about CNS/ATM technologies and be able to communicate effectively (i.e. briefings).
Desired Skills Knowledge of civil surveillance airspace standards, including experience with Mode S and TCAS. Previous employment in the aviation industry is desirable.
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 25% of the time.
