Purpose MITRE, whcih was included on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list for ten consecutive years, has a need for a full-time sensor systems engineer with an interest in signal processing and data analysis to work in the Battle Management Integration and Analysis department.
Security Clearance Level Secret
Key Functions You will work as part of a small team focused on the development of new and novel detection, exploitation and imaging algorithms using data from a variety of sensor systems. You will support the team effort by analyzing data from existing sensor systems, computing metrics for expected system performance using our simulation environment, and implementing simulation algorithms to improve sensor models. Analysis efforts addressed by the department include describing algorithm and sensor system performance as a function of sensor data quality and signal and noise phenomenology, characterizing system performance in order to clarify capabilities, identifying and addressing areas for improvement in sensor data processing, and the investigation of multi-sensor approaches for data fusion and system of systems collaboration and exploitation.
Required Education/Experience: BS
Desired Education/Experience BS and 1 years of related experience or MS in Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines. Data analysis and systems modeling experience in an academic or professional setting.
Required Skills: Familiar with basic signal processing and numerical analysis techniques. Experience using analytical software tools such as MATLAB or Maple for simulation and analysis of physical systems. Working knowledge of Java and/or C++.
Desired Skills Proactive self-starter with strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with remote sensing systems (Radar, EO, IR, acoustic, or multi-spectral), familiarity with tactical/theater or national intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems (ISR).
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 15% of the time.
