Purpose Develop distributed, scalable, interactive web applications using Ruby on Rails technologies.

Key Functions Develop distributed, scalable, interactive web applications using Ruby on Rails enterprise technologies. You will design and contribute to the development of UI-intensive interactive web applications. Strong development skills and background in Ruby on Rails and Java is required. Must be familiar with the Ruby on Rails security model and how it fits into the enterprise environment. Must be familiar with enterprise security models and have 1-2 years experience with LINUX/UNIX. Requires the ability to manage tasks and projects independently, work with others in a mentoring role, and be a technical resource in the Ruby on Rails domain.
Required Education/Experience: BS
Desired Education/Experience BS/BA degree in CS or EE and 2 or more years experience building and operating high performance, distributed software systems. Experience with project management methodologies and tools (requirements gathering, configuration management, workflow design, quality assurance) is required.
Required Skills: *Strong software design and software development skills including project experience with Ruby on Rails, Java, and relational databases.
* Practical knowledge of Ruby on Rails and Java design patterns and best practices also required.
* Excellent inter-personal communication skills are required for effective interaction with contractors and service providers.
Desired Skills * Experience fielding very large scale production systems.
* Experience with web application development using Java.
* The ability to work closely with Customers and Sponsors.
* Excellent documentation skills.
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to 10% of the time.
